Chris, Aquareef 200

A 200 litre aquarium built and maintained by Chris, having moved to marine fish keeping from tropicals some years ago.

Chris is a regular at Marine Life and in this showcase he explains how he got started and what his plans for his next tank are.

Chris says:

After keeping tropical fish my journey into the marine fish keeping hobby started at Marine Life and I have been pestering Jason and his staff ever since.

From the first time I visited the store, and every week since (!), they have provided help, advice, expertise and emergency assistance whenever I have needed it.upgrades since.

Paul & Lindas Reef

This 72 x 24 x 18 Reef system with a sump containing some stunning fish.

The main display tank is 72 x 24 x 18 with a 48 x 15 x 13 sump giving a system volum after displacement of approximately 400 litres. The display tank has a central weir housing twin 40mm stand pipes and one 32mm return pipe, the return pipe has a Y joint allowing two return pipes to run along the top rear rear of the tank and return the water to each corner of the aquarium.

The water is returned from the sump to the aquarium using an Aqua-medic Ocean Runner 6500 so accounting for loss of flow due to a four foot head height and pipe cornering the turnover will be around nine or ten times the system volume.

Matthews Betta Lifespace 680

Matthews Betta Lifespace 680 with perfect parameters with the help and advice from Marine Life.

After keeping tropical fish for some years, I eventually felt that it was time to take the plunge and get myself the marine reef tank that I always wanted.

Now although I still have some time to go before I get the tank looking exactly how I want it and still being relatively new to the hobby, just having somewhere that you can just pop into for advice, equipment or even just a cuppa has made starting out in this hobby both far easier than expected and much more enjoyable.

Paul and Christines 6 x 2 x 2 Mixed Reef System

Our Marine Aquarium is 6ft x 2ft x 2ft with a large sump located in another room. The sump holds almost as much water as the main display so the total system volume is around 300 UK Gallons.

We have a very varied selection of reef fish and a nice selection of hard and soft corals.

This is our second marine aquarium our first being a four foot system with no sump that give us the inspiration to go larger, our new aquarium is undoubtably the center peice of our dining room.
